Ba Duan Jin for Health

Last year Ruby Ho, a retired Occupational Therapist and qualified ‘Health Qigong Ba Duan Jin‘ (BDJ) Instructor, ran a seven-week course on Qigong Ba Duan Jin for branch members. It was so enjoyable that we invited Ruby to run another course. The next Online BDJ course will be in April, this will be a 10-week course, giving us more time to work on the basics and difficult moves.

BDJ is a Traditional Chinese exercise with a long written history and is well known for its gentle, slow movements and associated health benefits. From her experience as a BDJ instructor, Ruby Ho believes that BDJ practice can help to reduce some of the problems faced by people living with Parkinson’s. Ruby will provide 4 options to choose from, all delivered remotely using Zoom, so you can join from the comfort of your home:

  • Wednesday standing class from 3 April to 5 June, 09:00 to 10:15
  • Wednesday sitting class from 3 April to 5 June, 10:30 to 11:45
  • Thursday standing class from 4 April to 6 June, UK time 09:00 – 10:15, taught in Cantonese
  • Thursday sitting class from 4 April to 6 June, UK time 10:30 – 11:45, taught in Cantonese

These courses will be offered free of charge, all you need is a computer and a camera capable of running Zoom.

In addition to the class, participants with Parkinson’s are offered a free ‘Tongue Analysis‘ (see Online BDJ course Tongue Analysis – Personal Declaration for details). Please note that the number of ‘Tongue Analysis’ participants is limited to 10 only (First-come-first-served), whoever is interested in this should email the completed Online Practice Declaration and the Tongue Analysis Declaration forms to Ruby as soon as possible.

If you would like to attend the Thursday Cantonese class, please email Ruby your intent asap, so that separate declaration forms and class information in Chinese can be sent to you.
